Un-Repeatable

January – the month of new beginnings, of resolutions… I think January is always a great month to remember who you are in Christ. We all need reminders, now and then, about our identity because we live in such a LOUD world that demands so much of our energy that we don’t reflect often enough on who God made us to be – His friends.

“An argument started among the disciples as to which of them would be the greatest.” — Luke 9:46

We are all tempted to compare ourselves with others. We’re happy to hear about other people’s successes, but deep down, we wonder if we’ll be as successful. Will we be that good? Who will be the best?

I’m still learning that comparing myself to others is ignoring the uniqueness of how God made me. He doesn’t want me to be a copy of someone else; we’re all made distinctly.

You have been knitted together in your mother’s womb as an individual—God’s handiwork. His amazing creative power is expressed billions of times in every soul on Earth. No two people are exactly alike. Think about that…you are unlike anyone else on the planet.

You are unrepeatable!

You have certain gifts and abilities to become all God wants you to be. He designed you, He calls you, and He wants relationship with you that no other human being can offer. He’s even called you a friend! (John 15:14-15.)

What do good friends do? They love you through thick and thin; they encourage you to be your best, and they never give up on you.

Friendship with God is even better because He’s always faithful to help you on your journey through this life.

Stripped of pride and worldly ambition, we should simply come and humble ourselves as children trusting their Father in Heaven. Trust God’s leading; know that there is nothing you can do to make Him love you more than He does right now. He knows you down to the very number of the hairs on your head (Luke 12:7); you are of great value to God.

When struggling with comparing ourselves to others, remember that God has uniquely created every one of us.

Think Divinely: Embrace that you have been made,
unrepeatable!
