Talk of Repealing the 19th Amendment
I never spent a lot of time watching Charlie Kirk’s videos until after he was assassinated. I only watched part of a Jubilee show where Kirk represented the pro-life view against a group of pro-choice advocates. I thought Kirk did a good job defending the right to life and was very quick in his thinking. He was one smart young man. I didn’t know much about his conservative movement called Turning Point USA (TP USA) but after learning more about it, I fear without Kirk at the helm, it could morph into something he never intended.
Since his death, I started watching short clips of Kirk’s interactions with young people on college campuses, and I grew to love this guy. It was only then that I realized what a loss we were facing by his passing. I feel deeply for his wife and two sweet children who now have to grow up without a father – their innocent lives forever changed in that horrific moment.
After I watched his memorial, like apparently 100 million others did, I got curious about this movement. Scrolling on YouTube, I saw the TPUSA show taped the day after the memorial. It was a scheduled interview that was supposed to be with Kirk and another conservative influencer, Michael Knowles.
But TPUSA lost me when Michael Knowles was questioned about how he felt about rejecting the 19th Amendment, the one that gave women the right to vote. A man came up to the microphone stating that it was Eve’s fault that sin came into the world, and therefore let’s get back to the days when men are in charge and women stay home and have no vote! Seriously? That’s where I am vehemently opposed to this TP movement IF they support ideas like that one. Knowles did not entirely disagree with that man, and he should have! As a woman, this concerns me.
We do not need to suppress women – again! That was never God’s intention, and it angers me that there is a small movement of men who are in favor of repealing the 19th Amendment. I honestly do not think that will happen, but the fact that there are men out there advocating for this is unbelievable in 2025.

There is nothing new under the sun (Ecc. 1:9). Negative attitudes about women is as old as the written word. For centuries, women have endured oppression. Even some the church fathers, like prominent Church Father, Ambrose, the bishop of Milan from 374 to 397 A.D., wrote in his treatise On Paradise, that “though the man was created outside Paradise, an inferior place, he is found to be superior, while woman, though created in a better place, inside Paradise, is found inferior.” Ambrose believed it was a fact of nature that men are superior to women. That is such an incorrect understanding of Scripture! For example, when God created people, He made them male and female in His image. So would Ambrose say half of God’s image is inferior?
Consider these verses in the Book of Romans:
“Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man (Adam), and death through sin, so also death was passed on to all men, because all sinned. For sin was in the world before the law was given; but sin is not taken into account when there is no law. Nevertheless, death reigned from Adam until Moses, even over those who did not sin in the way that Adam transgressed. He is a pattern of the One to come.” Romans 5:12-14
The Apostle Paul lays the blame on Adam for the sin entering the world – he was accountable towards God because God told him directly what the rules were, and he broke them. Just read the account in Genesis 2:16. Eve was not even created before God gave Adam the prohibition not to eat from the Tree of Knowledge! God gave this command to Adam alone. Eve learned it from Adam. She was operating from second-hand information. She got it wrong, and Adam went along with it. Yet Eve is the woman never forgiven.
Taking women’s right to vote away because of a resurgence of traditional values should absolutely not be a conservative view. That should be obvious but apparently it’s not. Men who want to do this must have missed the statement that before the Fall, in Genesis 1:26–28, both men and women are given the shared responsibility of being stewards of the earth. It’s the Fall that caused a curse on them and the Earth. However, Jesus came to reverse the curse and set things right between us and God.
God forbid this TP USA movement works towards some kind of repealing of the 19th amendment. I am certain Kirk would not have endorsed that idea, as he stated in this brief clip on the right to vote here. Let’s pray that TP USA stays in the ‘Kirk lane’ and does not veer off into an oppressive movement that hinders the voice of women.
Great points.
Erica Kirk is now the CEO; so, repealing the 19th amendment will NEVER happen.
I have followed Knowles, Kirk, & Megyn Kelley primarily since the 2020 election.
These political commentators regularly interact, and Michael is known for his ultra-traditional catholic views. I generally like him. The guy who produces his daily podcast is Ben Davies (actor in Courageous {Kendrick brothers} & other Christian films)
Michael Knowles is thankfully only an affiliate to or “friend of” TpUSA.
PS Never listen to Matt Walsh. He’s a sarcastic satirist who would get your heart rate up!
Allie Beth Stuckey had a great guest hosting spot on Kirk’s podcast.
Check it out!
Okay, sigh of relief here. Sometimes it is concerning with the radical views we hear out there, but with Erika at the helm, you’re right! She certainly will not endorse repealing the 19th amendment. Thank you so much for your comments!
Lisa, I was thinking the same thing as Rebekah above about Erika. With her being at the helm that this is unlikely, but it is always wise to pray, pray, pray for these things!!! Yikes. I just really pray that the ultra-right doesn’t go the way the leftists think they will and try to make America a “Christian” country. Just a look at history shows us that that will not work! (Constantine and all that). America’s heart needs to be turned to Jesus (And I mean the Jesus that is love AND truth) and then and only then will policies change. I know I’ve greatly simplified things and it is way more complex than what I’ve stated. Thank God that He is in control. We need to purify ourselves as Christians that we would follow Jesus and His way and nothing else. It has been exciting to hear that 100s have accepted Jesus in the wake of this tragedy. May they be discipled well!
Hi Jill! Yeah, I am with you on the whole ultra-right thing. Anytime a movement goes to extremes, it does not play out well at all. When Jesus came the first time, even the Jews wanted him to get political and conquer the Roman empire. That was not his intention as the Kingdom of God is a spiritual kingdom at first. Someday, when Jesus returns, everything will look differently. But for now, we need to be careful about politcal power and the Church. We did that once with the Catholic Church and that did not go good as history shows. However, I do think Christians should be a voice in the marketplace of ideas and share our values and views confidently. I will be praying the TP USA disciples people well and continues to boldly proclaim the good news. Thanks for your comments. Blessings to you and your family!
I’ve only been listening to Charlie for about a year, sporadically at first, but more and more often as I heard godly wisdom from him, consistent, firm love spoken with boldness, and total commitment to God’s truth. Fearless. The same age as one of our sons, I grew to love him this past year. (I am so sad for his words taken out of context!) I have not grieved like this over any other person I didn’t know personally. I only started following Turning Point the week before his assassination/martyrdom.
Your concerns are expressed well, Lisa! (As always.) I think it will be fine, though, with Erika at the helm. And Christian brothers and sisters all over the globe will be lifting her up.
To the unfortunate man who suggested taking the vote away from women, we can hold up placards saying, “Reverse the curse! Reverse the curse!” That’s what Jesus did for us. And if God can forgive Adam for transgressing and landing all of us in a state of sin from birth, so can we. 😉
Well stated, Robin. I have found it just so hard at times when men still blame everything on women because of Eve. It is frustrating, to say the least. But with Erika at the helm, I pray she continues to keep the vision clear. Thanks for your comments! Bless you.
